New build project in Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham.

A West Midlands construction company is celebrating after winning a prestigious contract for a new 34-bed nursing home in Sutton Coldfield.

Massey has begun work on the project after it was given the go-ahead by Birmingham City Council planners, who praised the company for the sensitive design of the new home in Somerville Road.

Derelict BungalowIt is being built on a semi-derelict site on the edge of Sutton Park, creating 40 new jobs. Massey is carrying out the work on behalf of Sutton-based care company Homecroft Four Oaks.

Construction of the new nursing home will use sustainable construction methods and materials. The very latest construction methods will ensure energy efficiency, while energy-saving fittings and renewable materials will guarantee high environmental performance.

Massey managing director Nigel Massey said that after designing the new home in conjunction with Homecroft, they were delighted to have been awarded the contract to build what is their third project in conjunction with the Homecroft Care Group and Barclays Corporate Bank.

He said, “We have recently completed a major £2.5 million extension to another nursing home in Sutton Coldfield. The challenges with this project are very similar. It’s in a sensitive area and it’s important to ensure that the new building fits in with its surroundings and other buildings in the vicinity.”

Massey, with offices in Sutton Coldfield and Lichfield, is a design and building developer specialising in residential care and nursing homes.
